What is Build Dakota?

Build Dakota is a scholarship program created through a $50 million investment funded by a $25 million donation from T. Denny Sanford and a $25 million contribution from the South Dakota Future Fund.

Build Dakota Scholarships will be awarded to skilled scholars entering high-need workforce programs at Southeast Tech. Build Dakota is a full ride scholarship that covers the cost of tuition, books, fees, tools and laptop.

How Sponsor A Build Dakota Scholar Works

Industry partners who sponsor a Build Dakota Scholar with an investment of $8,000 to cover college expenses will receive matching funds from the Build Dakota Scholarship to offer a student selected by the company a full ride Build Dakota Scholarship.

Your Company May Be Eligible to Receive a Grant!

The Southeast Tech Foundation was awarded a $50,000 grant from Forward Sioux Falls that would offset some of the cost of employer contribution of the Sponsor A Build Dakota Scholar program. Companies that sponsor a student to attend to Southeast Tech are eligible to receive one of 19 - $2,500 Forward Sioux Falls Build Dakota grants.

To be eligible for this grant, your company needs to be a member of Forward Sioux Falls, The Sioux Falls Area Chamber of Commerce or the Sioux Falls Development Foundation. Companies that bring forward a new student to enroll at Southeast Tech will get priority consideration for the Forward Sioux Falls Grant. Companies that do not have a student identified can meet a student at our Build Dakota Match event on February 22, 2018.

Forward Sioux Falls Build Dakota Grant Application www.southeasttech.edu/forwardsiouxfallsbuilddakotagrant

Southeast Tech has had an overwhelming response to the Build Dakota Scholarship with over 200 applications for the Fall 2018 semester.  Not securing a sponsor does not take the student out of the consideration to receive a Build Dakota Scholarship, however securing a sponsor guarantees the student will be awarded a full ride scholarship to begin their education.*
